bank with longest openning hours in ireland?

since i started a 9 to 5, the whole banking system is gettin on my tits.. in america and canada, they're open saturdays and later in the evenin.

are there any banks in ireland open longer?

Halifax got bought over by Lloyds TSB. Don't know what that means but doesn't sound good. I'm also sick of the banks here. It's a load of bollox. You can lodge money into your AIB account from the post office but only in cash.

I don't think the LloydsTSB buyout of Halifax Bank of Scotland will affect them adversely tbh, especially in Ireland where they don't clash.

I had a bank call me and ask if I wanted to transfer my account, so I said ok, I'll pop in Satuday mornning. She then said we Don't open Saturdays, but we are open from 9am to 5pm as if that was something to be proud of :eek:

Why is it the banks think they are doing you a favour by letting you bank with them, it pisses me off.

There's also internet banking, if you just want to transfer money around, pay off credit cards etc...

A short whole ago A.I.B. did a trial of opening certain branches on Saturdays. They weren't branches down the country only open for 2 Saturdays either. I don't have the specific details but they got hardly any business apparently.

Think about it, people tend to bank when they are out doing something else, like working. Not only that but there are a whole load of people who go and speak to staff members when they don't need to, what with 24 hour banking, internet banking, etc.

There are an awful lot of people who will not avail of these services becasue "those bankers are trying to diddle them...."(said in voice from the 30s)

Go while in work. Nothing like getting paid to something that needs to be done.

Other than that the branches near colleges tend to be open a lot longer.

BOI opposite UCD for example

Opening times: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8.30am - 6.30 pm
Wednesday: 10.30am - 6.30pm
Friday: 8.30am - 6.00pm

Summer Opening times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10.00am - 4.00 pm
Wednesday: 10.30am - 4.00pm

Thats grand if you are working in relative proximity to a bank, I'm working in an industrial estate in the sticks, and with half an hour break there isnt enough time to get to the nearest branch.

I absolutely hate banking hours here. EBS must be the absolute worst though.

You have to sneak up on the EBS. If it thinks you're actually looking to come in, they'll shut up shop immediately.

Well when TSB was TSB , It use to say open untill 7pm on a thursday , that was feckin great , reason I jointed and then Permanent Came along and thats the one thing they took away. Still they open thru lunch and actually do stay open till 5 so better than most.

What about collecting cards? BoI made me go to the Dun Laoghaire branch to pick up my new laser card for some reason. What about opening accounts, what about applying for a mortgage, what about seeing a financial advisor.

There are loads of things you can't do online.

How about Banks open on a Saturday morning and meet the needs of their customers like they do in the UK.

There's also Permanent TSB. I don't really consider them to be a real bank, mind.

They should post the cards to you, and the pin seperatly. That how i've gotten all my cards.

A good few of the EBS offices open on a saturday morning but not all, so check on their website the office closest to you that opens Saturday morning.. Some even open late on a Thursday evening, til 6 or 7pm

Apart from that its Halifax that do 9 to 12 Saturday morning or online banking...

Rabo are grand for saving with and some current account stuff but no ATM access to your money in Ireland with them...it's the one thing I fault them for, since they have ATMs on the continent...oh and they have no branch facilities here either, which is what you're after...
