Linux for Music production

Hi, I'm thinking of building a computer to run linux, and run a digital audio workstation such as Cubase, Ableton Live as well as other workstations such as Reason. My questions are in connection with the mentioned software and its compatibility to run on Linux systems and also from the hardware side. The hardware being a Yamaha MW 10 usb audio interface, as well as an M-Audio KeyRig usb controller. will this hardware and software run well on a Linux system?

Hi,
I don't think those applications will run on a Linux system, try finding Ardour or something like that. There's a few Linux DAW's but Cubase and Ableton aren't one of them.

A little bit of talcum powder will sort out that string noise on the acoustic too!

Don't know much about the subject but I think studiorat is correct with regards CuBase.

But I did read an favourable article in Linux Format magazine about Studio 64 ( http://www.64studio.com ). It looked like a one stop shop for music on linux... but as I said I pretty ignorant of the subject.

Another possibility might be to use wine

I remeber reading about something like this in an edition of Linux Format, I think it was a tutorial about setting up your own studio under linux.
