I.m not a big fan ot TK Maxx, that said I was in the one in Kilkenny a few weeks ago and it wasn't too bad. I thought it would be mental as it was the Cat Laughs weekend, but it was fairly tidy and not too manic.

I thought the menswear section was better than Ladies, hubby got some good value bits, I got sweet FA.

I really hate having to trawl through every item in the shop to find what you want, I'm a more random shopper! I think you have to be pretty methodical in TK's and I think a lot of it comes down to luck!

I buy mine nowhere else, €10 for black CK boxers is about the best value you can get.

I dont get the whole TK MAX thing at all. In the states its good cause everything is 50 - 90% off, here it seems like there only 10 - 20% off or so. Whenever i've heard of someone getting a "bargan" its usually ill fitting and a fairly poor item which they think is good value cause its got a designer name on it.

To me its all a big time waste.

Patience is the key to successful bargain hunting at TK Maxx. I spent a good while in there today and picked up a smart pair of black H by Hudson shoes (my favourite shoe brand) that should retail at €120 for €50.

TK Maxx is pretty untidy - it's really hard to find anything in it. It's got much worse in recent years; it used to be not-too-bad, and worth the money. Now it's a little over-priced for the quality. That said, the men's section is much better than the women's.

Bought a pair of vans runners there a year ago for 50 quid and they were for sale in a shop in galway recently for 110 quid. I admit, a lot of their stock is nasty tripe, but it's entirely possible you'll find excellent stuff there, though the likelyhood of finding good stuff every trip is unlikely.

Got a class retro Nike hoodie in TK Maxx yesterday. 40 euro...it would easily cost 70 euro normally.

I am queen of TK Maxx lol, I will always end up spending about €100. In the past I have come out with loads of Fred Perry (stuff that you won't find in Urban Ourfitters), a Betsey Johnson handbag for €60, decent sports wear and great t-shirts. I got great Tommy Hilfiger luggage last summer. I got a floral print skirt and dress about two weeks ago and everyone asks if they're from UO or Topshop when in fact the total of the together was only €40 in TK Maxx. I always go the the Blanchardstown one.

The problem is that they cater for fat people. Its like that Century 21 in New York or any Burlington Coat Factory.

Or is it possible that American men are better built than ours.

I love TK maxx for kitcheny things and the odd handbag.

there are very few in my size and the ones that are left are horrible

I hate the place and am just not into pulling things off hangers etc to get sizes. One of my friends shops there all the time and always looks fantastic. If you have the patience, you can find some lovely stuff.

    Just not my thing...

I've heard of people finding great things in there.. what's everyone's experiences with it?:)

I found great items in that store in particular. I'm NOT fond of the St. Stephen's Green store at all and avoid it at all costs but the one in Carrickmines is very different. Found wonderful items for the house too. And they were bargains. For example saw a le creuset pot in Arnotts for €150 and the exact same one in TK Maxx for €40

    Carrickmines is very good.

Maybe it was the (midweek) day I went, but I found some great stuff and it didn't have the hurricane-aftermath atmosphere of Stephen's Green.

Take the M50 southbound and come off at exit 15, that's the exit after Dundrum. Take the flyover across the motorway and head for the roundabout. Go around the roundabout (as if you are heading back to the flyover) and the entrance to the retail park is on your left.

    It's called The Park.

I can't understand why people are slating it! Yeah some of them are overly hot (St Stephen's Green) but nobody is forcing you to go in

The one in Swords is fairly okay. It's roomy enough but they layout is slightly mad. It used to be better laid out. I hate the stephen's green one but I have found decent stuff in there.

I suppose it's all down to how much time you want to spend there. If you don't want to root, don't bother. But you can find gems. My mum got a designer cardigan (she's not a freak size either!) in there the other day and priced it in grafton street later. She paid 30 euro and it was retailing at 130. The underwear tends to be good too, I've never heard of them letting people try on the pants but trying on bras, you find a shop that doesn't let that happen. (Cos you need to, realisitically) One thing I know for certain is their handbags ARE great value and designer brands do crop up there very often.

I also don't understand the point about the jeans only being in odd sizes. I'm a size 8 in jeans and get TONNES of stuff in there. Also, the other day I got ralph lauren shorts for 6 euro. SIX EURO. They're nice too! Granted, they are a size 6 which is probably why they were still there but still, that is good!

They're really good for babywear and kidswear too. (Plus, for anyone small out there, their older girls sizes will fit :P)

You can get really nice and very reasonably priced evening dresses if you don't ming getting alterations made if they don't fit properly!
It seems crazy to spend a fortune on one and only get one wear out of it, maybe two if you're lucky!
    have patience people!

Its more organised than the stephens green one but youll find within sections that its very messy.

I was about to buy a great lookin shirt for €14 only the hint of ***stain was very offputting( although im sure it was fine ive heard bad rumours about that place and the clothes in there)
