I am thinking about buying a new or nearly new low emissions golf. Is it worth waiting for the new model? Any idea when it will reach the shops here?. I kinda fancy a dsg.

I would strongly recommend waiting. Many versions of the Mk 5 have gone out of production anyway.See here

I'd usually give a new model about 12 months on the road before buying it. At least that way you'd hope any teething problems would be sorted especially with regards VWs these days.

According to the bumph and marketing literature as well as an Autocar magazine preview the Mark VI is a far better car than the Mark V. If I were you I'd wait. Apparently the interior is of a far higher quality than the Mark V.
