    CONGEALS

Jesus, that would have been easier to solve if 'Mayo' was excluded from that clue. It's a left-field bizarro.. .

I've a gripe about one of yesterday's clues. I can't remember the wording exactly: "It's my round so it is blooming well is. and don't you forget it!"

The answer should be "My + o + so +tis" which is a forget-me-knot flower

But Crosaire has "My + o + si + tis" which is an inflammation of muscle tissue

No wonder I could not finish the damn thing!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 527 ✭✭✭Spike440

Yes that was annoying. You should email a letter in to the editor about the mistake. There was one lately about another botanical clue.

The one which is annoying me is 9a (Indian). I can see now that the clue just about fits the answer, but it was the reference in the clue for 10a that prevented me from getting it.

That's right, rhododendrons, wasn't it? And as far as I can remember, a letter was printed re the same.

    I think 2d is probably
    orator
    with 1a being
    double ten

    I think 3d will be
    ballet
although it would work better with a "sounds like" part!

    22d.
    adhered
    10a.
    dalliance
    - possibly!

That NW corner is tricky- one definite clue should sort it out though

    4d.
    elands

    I think 3d is now
    Bolero
    with 12a being
    comradery

    5d.
    encores

So I'm stuck with 16d and 23a - Any ideas!

I haven't looked at it much, so I could be terribly wrong here. Could 1a be
    Twenty - Nil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 527 ✭✭✭Spike440

    I think 16d must be
    PANNIERED
but that leaves me with nothing for 23a.

    Alternatively, 23a could be
    ROOKIE
    or
    ROOSTS
    .

    Does anyone have 6d?

It is my first time posting to this thread, as only recently the IT has become free on the net and I can download Crosaire. I am still getting into his mind and sometimes he is so obtuse that I give up in despair (for a short time !)
How does one impose the "spoiler" over possible solutions? I've tried FAQ and got faq all!

There's a shortcut button for it near the top right of the toolbar when you're writing a post. Alternatively use
    xxxx [./spoiler] without the .

Just type (SPOILER) XXX (/SPOILER) with square brackets instead of normal ones.

If anyone has the print edition will they see if 20d says "... to be 1 down" instead of "to be 1 across".
