Hi. I am best man at a wedding next month and was asked by the Groom for my view on how much should he pay to the Priest. I suggested €300 but I really don't have a clue. Any advice. The wedding reception is being held in quite a snazzy place and the Priest is a family friend - therefore would the Priest expectations differ - i.e. the Priest might think - if the couple can afford this place etc...

    Many Thanks

I should think that's fine - plus an invite to the reception is the norm.

Just get the bride/groom to ask him - simple as. Our priest was also a family friend and refused point blank to accept any cash payment. He was already invited to the reception, and is big into wine, so we just got him a very good bottle of red and white as a gift, he was delighted with that.
