Ebay fees question.

    I'm thinking of selling something on Ebay for a Buy-It-Now price of €195. I've added up the fees and it has come to over €10. Have I done something wrong or would this be right? It is an electrical good BTW. Also, do I pay does fees by a Credit Card?

    As far as I know, you need to have a credit card registered on eBay to sell, and they take the fees from this card.

    Irish sellers can pay fees with credit card or PayPal now. Fees are going to change soon for Buy It Now items. See:

    It may work out cheaper if you wait. This site is great for calculating fees. It calculates under the current structure at the moment though I'd imagine they'll update it with the above changes soon:

    If you're going to sell something for €195 you may also want to make it immediate payment required as your item could be a target for time-wasting Nigerian scammers.

    If you're taking payment by Paypal, use http://ppcalc.com to see how much fees you'll have to pay there too. Also, restrict your shipping to the countries you want to ship to, and specify no Nigeria, as it will be a scam.

    I found an Ebay calculator so I was able to work it out. Thanks for all the help and advice. This probably sounds stupid but couldn't I just put in tha ad that once I receive payment I will ship it out? How do people get scammed if they receive the payment then post it out to the person?

    You get scammed because sometimes sellers do not send items by trackable means leaving themselves open for a 'item not received' claim.

    If you send to an unconfirmed address, you reduce paypal seller protection big time. Some sellers use stolen credit cards that are registered with paypal and use this to buy your items.
