    Hey,

I'm self thought on guitar, have started playing barres....bring on the callus!!
Is it best practice not to use your index finger for open chords when playing barres.....so it can be used for a smoother transition to a barre chord??

    hmm not really

i think everyone learns off with the simple open position chords so unless u really wana adapt go for it, but its just a matter of gettin used to barres and gettin the fingers where u want

just like another chord fingering i guess

ok....i suppose then since my barres are slow and painful i may aswell get used to using 2nd 3rd and 4th fingers for open chords.

    thanks fo replying
