Dont know much about AV hardware more of a pc person.

I putting together a system with a home pc, projector, surround sound and dvd/blu ray player in one room. Iwant to be able to switch between the pc output (vga and DVI outputs), tv output (analogue), and dvd/bluray player and have the surround sound work on them all. Anyone know what kind of units I need to make this work.

For the best result you should consider an AV Receiver with at least 2 HDMI inputs and one which will upscale analogue input to HDMI - then you can connect the PC and the bluray player by HDMI, the TV output (you say analogue but don;t say if you mean a set top box/whatever - if you have SKYHD you can use HDMI, as you can with a number of other satelite or DVB T boxes). Then you connect the HDMI out put of the Receiver to the projector.

This will allow you to use the AV receiver to switch between sources with a single video cable going to your projector.
