as a side topic to the messy rolls thread and my comments on billing charged for the salad as an extra on a meat sandwich

what else have you been charged for that you expected came as standard

my best recent one was being charged for a portion of vegetables, we were having a roast dinner, the waitress asked if we wanted vegetables, to which we replied yes, we were charged for the vegatables as an extra, and there was me thinking when you have a roast dinner, stuff like veg and potatos came with it

You ordered a side portion, you got charged for it.

True, I wouldn't of been too pleased with that.

I ordered a take away from a place in Greystones, I live in Bray, and we ordered over 50 euros worth of food and they still charged delivery. Most places don't charge after you spend about 12 euro.

I really hate fast-food places that charge for ketchup. Some of the place that charged, it was .20c and over and chips really are not the same with it.

They charged you because they had to go out of town i'd imagine!

I got charged 50p for asking for another little jug of milk in a coffee shop in London because I like plenty of milk and there was 2 of us at the table... I thought the waitress was messing and the smiles stopped and she said, "Its 50p for the extra milk".... WTF?

Was it a roast dinner or a roast beef(or what ever the meet was). But if i were you i wouldn't go to the States as what the put on the menu is all you get. if your stake doesn't mention spuds or veg you won't be getting any.

Gourmet Burger in Dun Laoighre (why can I never spell that?) used to give chips and stuff with your burger.

Gourmet Burger in Ballsbridge - the one near me, charges for them.

Marios in Terenure quite recently used to give spuds and veg with whatever you ordered, but since it's been done up they're charging for that now (and prices have increased dramatically). I found this out when I ordered something and was looking around for the person to come around with the veg & spud tray.

Afaik, if you're using a pub or restuarant in this country, it's not legal to force people to pay for the toilet.

just back from fresh for lunch.

got a spicy chicken fillet baguette with mayo lettuce and onion.

usually they stick a second sticker on the roll for .50c to pay for the extra salad.

i was usin the bank machine in there when i noticed the normal sticker for my roll, €3.50 and the second sticker had "breakfast roll €3.99" instead of the extra salad.

needless to say i just pulled the second label off before i got to the checkout!!

It's common in some pubs and nightclubs in Amsterdam. On the plus side, they're always clean. (Although they're pretty clean in general even where they're don't charge, think it's just people in Ireland).

Saw someone getting charged 80p in a Dublin pub years ago for 3 drops of blackcurrant in their Guinness.

I hate the way O'Brien's charge cheese as a 'meat'.

    It's.....just not a meat...

Stop cashing in on it because it's a foodstuff people eat a lot.

A restaurant charging you for butter or sauce is like a prostitute charging you for lube. I’d advise a BYO policy in both cases.

Stayed in Jury's Inn, Quay Street, Galway on Saturday.
    156 for a double room.
Breakfast not included, extra 10 euro, which then was raised to 12 euro because I hadn't ordered it the night before.
Parking (for guests of the hotel) also cost ten euro extra per day.
No shampoo/ soap/ conditioner/ shower cap in bathroom.
    No ice-bucket available from bar.

Travelodge standard at Jury's prices. Will never go back.

Went for a sunday drive yesterday with the missus to the Cliffs of Moher,8 euro to park the car.No wonder tourists think Ireland is expensive.

I've never encountered one of these places, and delivery costs a fair bit of money for the takeaway and the drivers, so not exactly reasonable to expect not to have to pay it. The driver isn't getting a share of the money from your order, so they've got to be paid for their work.

Burger King charge for mayo, but give out free ketchup and salt. WTF

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

Because mayo is disgusting and Burger King want to punish those who eat it.

They charge 0.80c in abrakababra for a small satchel of ketchup on St. Annes Street

Thou art sure? I always obtain them for free... with that said, I'm always smiling at the people behind the counter.

a taxi driver tried to charge me for luggage once (I hadn't any). When I queried it, he informed me that my handbag was counted as luggage. The back was a tiny evening bag - about the same size as an envelope, with enough room for keys, money and lipstick in it.

    Luggage it wasn't.
