    The Bailey
The Classic Bar (formerly known as Rosies)

generally anywhere thats not full of tarty 17 year old girls and scobes out trying to impress the forementioned tarty 17 year old girls. Such places include the likes of 'The Goat'.

Kennedys, Freds and theres a few good pubs up Barrack St too...

What am I saying? Anywhere theres booze is a good pub :D

personally I think Reardons has gone down a bit in the past year.
I'm leaning more towards Scotts now, though saying that the only time I'm ever really out in cork city is with work.

Was in the Bodega last night, its a nice pub to go for a drink where you're not going to be swamped with ppl and not have blasting music.

Obviously not tried the Bodega on a Saturday night recently!

I'm fairly keen on the Vineyard, the Roundy and Tom Barry's. The Classic is alright, too.

That Bachelors place looks nice, a little yuppieish though. Too yuppieish for me really. Still, nice looking place. Reminds me of that yuppie place in Douglas.

    what yuppie place in douglas?

Probably the East Village, which took most of the yuppie tossers from the Bohemian.

Where's the Bailey? Rings a bell that.

That I haven't, on the weekends that I do happen to stay in Cork I tend to socialise in Macroom with the rest of the culchies :D

The Bailey on the corner of Washington Street around the corner from The Wash (I think anyway)

Aye, that's the place. I was there recently. Seemed like a grand enough place (big like many Cork bars).

Reardens I could do without tbh. Service is slow regardless of how empty the place is & bit of a dive upstairs, but that's only my opinion.

Definately the bailey, top talent, air conditioned gets rid of the smokey enviroment immediatly, dress code keeps the knackers out, reasonable bouncers (one guy even opened the door for me the other night)

The classic bar is nice too, but the bouncers there are ****.
Too young to get into Reardens

Clubs in cork are pretty shoddy, Redz is ok but full of posers, Freddies (fast eddies) has potential, I like the savoy but its always too empty.

The Bodega is ok, isn't the Roundy a gay bar? Not that i have a problem with that . . . Umm no one has mentioned the bars at the north side of the city, The Franciscan and Gallaghers are two decent enough pubs. Club wise there isn't much, Freakscene is pretty good, although with FX shutting i'm sure it will be inundated with scobes :D

was last at The Classic Bar for the class get together for the last day of study in CIT. Twas a grand relaxing spot, music at a decent level, which ment that you didnt have to stretch the vocal chords the whole time.

nite clubs....well more of a last nite bar, The Bakery was pretty good, but then again at that stage of the night anyplace would ALMOST do when sozzled.

i say almost, as the most of "clubs" in cork are sh!t holes.

Agreed, but on the good side there are a good few decent late bars.

I like the Crow Bar myself at the side of Grand Parade Hotel. Good music (metal) and get served fast too.

Freds is good for music but **** for talent and decor. They have the same brews now as the Franciscan Well.

Franciscan Well has great homebrewed beer. Mmmm blarney blondes.

The Roundy isn't gay, its mixed.

Scotts has an older crowd mainly. Nice comfy bar though. No nice Belgian beer so thats a big minus.

The Trinity is a nice spot and has good beer. :)

The Bodega was uber trendy before but has lost those very trendy people to other bars now.

The Bailey is nice when it isn't packed to fire hazard capacity.

Reardens is crap though. Bouncers are apes.

Not mad keen on Belgian beer myself. Looks (and tastes) like someone has w*nked off in it.

And before that it was something else, and before that it was The Courthouse. Kieran Mohally's baby. So is the Jury Room still called the Jury Room? And is Julie still running it? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

as for the jury room thats been the courthouse tavern for a good few years. not sure who owns it, i think its a west cork crowd might be part of the whole washington street/cork superpub cartel/mafia ownership though.

it seems licences and premises just seem to be swapping hands for a few million every now and again. just a select few hands though.

I dunno if it qualifies as a 'top pub' but I was in the Crowbar tonight. Maybe its been mentioned in here already but Im just too lazy to read all the replies. Anyway - the drink is good in there, no scobes/wackers/knackers/langers and lotsa heavy metal music (if thats your thing). I thought it was great anyway... and theyre open late 7 nights a week (till 2am I think)

Freakscene has to be the best club night. The music beats everywhere else.

If anyones looking for a pub with a good atmosphere try dennehys on the coalquay. sometimes its a fairly old crowd and a lotta regulars but the staff are sound and its a good laugh watching the barman taking the piss outta his customers and equally fun watching them tryna come up with a witty response half cut.
