Got a letter form upc yesterday saying that there non-direct debit charge is increasing from 2euro to 3euro

how can this charge be legal in the 1st place?its just penalising people who wish not to pay direct debit:mad:

sure this is no consolation to you, but you can take it that it's legal. There was a big hullabaloo about it when first introduced in 06, but understand that the agreement they reached with CPA was that they could charge it going forward.

I think it only applies to new(ish) customers cause i don't get charged it and I'm with them since they were cable link.

The Consumer Protection Act 2007 would have outlawed the charge. It contains a section prohibiting businesses from charging different amounts based on the method of payment. However the Government has taken a decision not to commence the relevant section, under pressure from the likes of Ticketmaster for who it would also have banned the charging of credit card fees.

So is it kind of like they're getting in now while the going is good until the charge is officially outlawed yeah ? :D
