My elderly mother just got her new replacement box today. She found it very confusing to find the stations. However, some of the stations are showing subtitles and we can't find a way to get rid of them! She did ring but they said there was some kind of error all right but didn't know how to help! Anyone know? I've no patience for fiddling around in the dark, I'd rather have a manual in front of me!

Press Menu>>>choose settings+press OK>>>choose preference settings+press OK>>>go to subtitle language and select off. No more unwanted subtitles on screen.

Is it possible to turn off channels that you don't watch? e.g. kids crap & music channels? Can you block them so they don't come up when you're flicking through?

No, but you can add the ones you do watch to your Favourites, and then if you hit the blue button while you're skipping through the Now/Next menu it'll only show you the Favourites and not the other rubbish.

I'm getting the exact same problem with subtitles actually. On some channels and for some programmes, subtitles come up. I can turn them off while I'm watching, but if I change channels and go back, the subtitles reappear.

If I use the tax man's process above, it has no effect.

    Any ideas?

@Seamus That's the only method of turning them off for good. The other way which is only temporary is by pressing the info button and selecting off but only good until you change channels.

Can't understand, nor heard of, it not working.

@Seamus. A friend of mine had exactly the same issue. He had to get the box replaced.
