    Hi guys,
I'm the parent of JC'er, love maps etc., I cannot relate the aerial photo to anything on the OS map. Been reading maps for years and studied this one for last 30-40 mins, still can't match them up. Anyone here want to help me out with perhaps a grid ref. for the church in the centre of the aerial photo.
Hope it' s not Alzheimers for me!!

Yeah, I couldn't match them up either, but there wasn't a question that to related to that, luckily

the short questions were soo easy, i did Q1,2,4 on the long questions ..and i was looking over the paper there and noticed i forgot part D of 4 ..havent a clue how that happened!

Same here - my priority mission was to avoid the maps at all costs.

Managed to match them up with the aid of google earth, would suggest it being almost impossible in an exam situation. My hat off to anyone that did so!!

I bloody hope it was a landslide!

That's a lot of marks lost for me otherwise. :(

The photo was not pointing to the north, so you had to turn the map around a bit that they're pointing the same way. The river on the photo is the Corrib, and the church is just to the left of that. It actually isn't a church on the map, but a cathedral, so the sign is a bit different. We weren't allowed to take the maps with us though and I can't find it on the internet, so I can't give you a grid ref...

ye it was a landslide, don't know whether though it was at a stormy sea or relaxed lake. only 3 marks though anyways.

Seriously?? Maps is a Definite question to come up every year.

I thought the geography paper was simple enough, nothing difficult in it at all really! :)

I thought it wuz easy enough like and might just keep it on bcos of its points gunna have to do some serious thinking aswell though cos i want to do LCVP aswell like :S]

Also i think it was a stormy sea :P

    Stormy sea ;)

I'd think hard about LC geography, so many people think its an "easy subject for points", probably because of the way the JC Geo is setup but its a big step up and marks aren't as easily got as one might think! I know a number of people who have come out of their Leaving cert. geography exam fully confident they had secured an 'A' but turned out a 'C'.
Talk to a teacher before choosing it over something else anyways :)

    Geography paper was easy!

Hope the examiner pointed out the mistake to everyone in the settlement question on the SQ paper :)

    I did Q2,3 and 4 A, B, C.

They were all easy enough. there were like 2 things I'm unsure about.
In the SQ for farm inputs etc.

I said Silage, Animal Manure and calves. Wasn't sure about that.

And for the demographic transition chart
I had Stage 1 for death rates
Stage 5 for total population increase
    Stage 2 for natural decrease

Did the mistake actually make a difference in answering the question though? I hope not cause if it did then I did something wrong! :D

I drank two mugs of coffee before the exam and i was buzzing! It was a such a mistake because in most of the long questions my points were there but my sentence structure was awful, i coudn't think straight. My hands were shaking so my sketch map was really wonky as well and usually they're top notch.

Some of my friends did all the long questions, i had no time but i suppose i did all the short questions.

I had Stage 1 for death rates
Stage 5 for total population increase
    Stage 2 for natural decrease

I didn't do that question but I remember the 5 stages.

Stage 1 = Highest death rates
Stage 2 = Death rates go down a lot, birth rate stay the same, population boom occurs
stage 3 = Death rates goes down a slight bit more, birth rate goes down significantly, population increases but not as much as stage 2
Stage 4 = Birth rate and death rates are the same, population very slightly increases
Stage 5 = Natural decrease occurs, birth rate goes lower again and death rate slightly rises as there is more elderly than new borns. A natural decrease in population occurs.

it was easy except my class never learned how to draw an aerial photograph only the OS maps so i kind freaked out about that, i did it out of pure stupidity not realising i could of picked a different question.
i went for question 2 and 3 from the second part too, anyone else do those?
i got an A in the mocks but i think i got a C in this so im pretty dissapointed..

and did anyone understand that diagram in the folder asking if it was soil creep or a land slide?.. i picked land slide but by john joe what the hell was that supposed to be? it looked like a normal piece of land first then it looked like there was a chunk out of the bottom gone and in the last box there was a rectangle stuck onto the front of it???..

lol! I thought it was clear enough! It showed the cut through section of the side of a hill. It then showed the under cutting where there was erosion due to road building or whatever and so the land above that had no support and fell, thus the landslide!
