    Brothers and Brotherettes.

In the bar I mentioned a BGRH Survival Kit. For use in Emergencies, like a bar closing unexpectedly early, a wimmins not having the dinner ready on time and other such inconveniences.

My idea is to come up with a difinitive list of items that A Brother needs.

    1. Three cans of strong beer and a naggin of Spirits
    2. Emergency Steak (thanks Brother Niall)

Hmmm what else, some form of easy to consume food (to compliment the beer)... Pub crisps or salted/dry roasted peanuts

Ideally it should be a multitasking belt, keeps the pants up and is there in case of an emergency... something like what the Duff man wears

Rashers. There must be rashers. Some heavy painkillers for the morning after that must surely come, even if it's days hence. Phone number of sober mate who can drive. More beer.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Let's not get carried away here Brothers. How big is this kit going to get? Soon it will be too big for most Brothers to be arsed carrying it! Thus defeating it's purpose :D

money / credit card - 50's don't take much room

a short list of phone numbers
pizza places that deliver , especially if they deliver drink too

The get out of jail card
"The bearer of this card is probably a person of hideous antecedents and low moral character, and upon apprehension for any cause should be immediately released in order to save other prisoners from contamination."

    Man should only ever need:

    -Whiskey

    and

    -Steak

anything more and you belong here

I may leave room for a lighter, with which to set some of your unspecified quantity of whiskey ablaze in order to partially cook said steak to no more cooked than 'rare'.

I'm very surprised given the other items that toilet paper has been overlooked!

Well, if you have a really, really hot curry, it sort of takes care of itself ... like one of them self cleaning ovens

I think the technical term is pyrolitic

Some sort of handheld electronic device that automatically numbers the list for you, because I can't be arsed finding what number we're at.

It should also have velcro so I don't need to use my arms to carry it either. My boxers don't have pockets.

Some sort of communication device will be necessary. In order to warn other Brothers of the emergency and to arrange the meetings.

A wallet and a taxi service number. Can't be expending vital energy walking to any of those places, though they are aplenty.

A full wallet and a phone with all vital numbers is all that is needed. Everyone else will do anything you need if you gots de bean.

A man can find toilet paper alternatives anywhere, so long as he has imagination.

Who needs a survival kit ?

Once the Time Machine forum is up and running we can take turns going back and rescuing anyone who hasn't clocked in lately.

speaking of which, i realised i may be overdoing it on the old take aways the other day. My girlfriend's house is just outside the delivery range of my local chinese. There are ones closer to her but they're not a patch on it so i order for collection and then drive up and get it

this is how the conversation went last week:

me: hello. I'd like to make an order for collection please

    her:is that sam vimes*

    me:..........yes it is

when your local chinese knows you by name when you call, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

*names changed to protect the gluttonous
