Hey there, I am completely lost with logging into a laptop that is set up on ubuntu:confused:
I got an old laptop off a fella on here a few weeks ago and it is set up to run on Ubuntu; anyway, I have no experience of Linux and the laptop runs to a Ubuntu login screen requiring username and password. Does anybody know a way of getting the main screen to load up if you don't know these???!!

I can get into the system recovery screen set up and I have changed the Root password that way but when you use this on the login screen it says:
"System Administrator does not have permission"!!!

I plan on changing it to Windows anyway but any help would be much appreciated :)

Well if you changed the root password...

    Username: root
Password: *whatever you changed it to*

Yeah I'll try it again tonight although if my memory serves me right the last time I did just that and it returned a response:
"System Administrator does not have permission"

    ...or something like this statement

Will let you know, Thanks :)

Nope. If you're using root then it should be fine.
