Gas BBQ Question

I have an American bbq which has a different regulator than the ones here. Question is can I simply cut off the American regulator and fix an Irish regulator to the hose? Or is there more to it than that?

i think you can - and fix in place with the good jubilee clip.

As far as I know you can to. Worked in a DIY shop and we sold English BBQ which had a different regulator as well. All you had to was snip the other one off and attach the Irish. Use a jubilee clip as said, you may get one when purchasing a regulator.

Another question on this - if I have a US BBQ and empty propane gas cylinder - is there any place I can get that cylinder filled here (and leave US regulator etc all in situ)

You can't get a cylinder filled, you can only swap an empty for a full one. Propane is widely avallable here, although I don't know whether the fittings are compatible with what you have so take the regulator along.

plenty places will fill a cylinder for you, at half the price, maybe there's a law against this??????

I've never seen that, they're all swap only round where I live. You pay more if you can't provide an empty, otherwise you just pay for gas, but you don't get it filled for you, you just get a "new" cylinder.

i know a petrol station with a gas tank, and like a petrol pump it has a hose and you fill the cylinder, well the owner does, the tap is always locked unless he's there, maybe its dodgy, i don't know

Oh, so there is a potential to have it filled here? anyone know of any places that would (I know regular petrol stations dont but I was told previously I could get it filled which is why I brought the empty tank with BBQ, also have patio heater)

I would prefer to be able to fill my empty US cylinder ....... that way I could keep the existing hardware/regulator which ensures it burns and is released at correct rates for BBQ to work optimally.
