Anyone have any recommendations? Someone they have used in the last year that did a good job at a good price. Also they need to cover Westmeath.

I have an average sized garden that is not level, overgrown with long grass and has no redeeming qualities at all.

I need someone who can come in, tear it out (the grass), flatten it and put in a patio or deck.

I only have about 3000 to spend. I do not need anything fancy, just a garden i can actually go out and use.

also if any boardsie actually does this then let me know.

If i can not get anyone to do it under my budget, i will just have to make time and do it myself.

diy save your self a fortune, use the net, nothing is sacred, enjoy yourself, take it a little at the time, some web sites have a garden desigen page for free, gardening is enjoyment, costs money, its scarce, buy a few books online, amazon is a good place to start, but buy from the supplier always cheaper, which is best showing your friends a designer garden that costs a fortune, or showing one for a fraction of the price, saying this is all mine.

I started to do it myself, the main thing i need is a patio, problem is that digging up a garden is a LOT of work for one person. I have a paver coming out to take a look on Sunday and hopefully i will get somewhere.
Most of it i will be doing myself but the construction side of things is beyond me on my own. Well no thats not true, i just do not have the time to do it myself.

I hired a petrol strimmer and cleared the long grass, then ran over it with my lawnmower till it was as short as possible. I then started digging on Bank holiday monday. Its an area of about 20 feet by 20 feet or so. The ground is FULL of rocks so each bit of sod i lift takes a few mins to get as i keep hitting rocks... feckin builders!! I only got 1/3 of the area cleared all day Monday. Will see how i get on this weekend, i borrowed my dads wheelbarrow and also his cement mixer. I was going to just lay on sand but i think it might be better to do properly and get hardcore and tramp it down etc.

All the stuff i lift im piling along the back wall to make a raised bed, maybe a rockery.
Pity my dad does not have the time, he is actually a gardener/landscaper in his spare time... one of those guys that knows a bit about everything! Mr DIY!! He turned his 1/4 acre garden into a paradise, same family of Ducks come back every year to the pond.

    Hi there,

Just wondered if you got a landscaper sorted?

I've PM'ed you my details as I am a landscaper. I have a couple of people here on the boards that I have done gardens for, so referances from here are availble, plus other cleints from Wicklow to Dublin.

    Kind regards,

    Apip

I never did get a PM, Anyway im just doing it myself. I got someone out to quote me on putting in a patio. Bearing in mind i had already sorted the materials, rented a mini digger and excavated the yard and got hard core and rented a compacter. All they would have had to do is physically put the stones down and make sure they stay down. They said it would be €1000?? To me that kind of money would have included the excavation but maybe thats just me being cheap :D

Anyway my dad knows how to do it so i will have him supervise and i will do the heavy lifting and get a friend to help.
