Hi Wayne, I am so sorry to hear about your wedding being cancelled. I hope the hotel is going to compensate you? If not might be worth consulting a solicitor. I know it might not be the same but the deerpark hotel is nice, my g/f's brother was going to get married there this year. Might be worth a try.

I hope everything works out in the end.

    All the best

I organise conference things in work quite a lot so I'd be in touch with a lot of hotels regularly in the Dublin / Wicklow / Meath / Kildare area.

Also you may be entitled to some sort of compensation but sure money is not gonna fix the not having a hotel for your big day. Try these places:

Carton House, Maynooth - absolutely fab hotel, lovely grounds for pics and it's only a 15 min drive from the m50 (go via the M4).

Barberstown Castle, Straffan - lovely hotel again, lovely grounds, food is fab, tiz near Maynooth as well

Dunboyne Castle in Meath - never been but might be an option for you

Brook Lodge hotel in Wicklow - organic food, apparantly it's fab and grounds are lovely, my friend got married there

Ritz in Wicklow - well it is the Ritz! Tiz the place where Gordan Ramsey has his restaurant.

Osprey in Naas - lovely hotel, only 20 mins from m50, food is fab too

Kilashee House in Naas - meant to be lovely too and grounds are fab, haven't been but a friend has

    K Club in Kildare - haven't been but tiz a 5 star

The Heritage in Portlaoise - 5 star again, haven't been though

Fitzpatricks Castle in Killiney, South Dublin - lovely hotel too and got fabulous views

Can't think of anymore right now, if I do I will post again. If it was me I'd pick Carton House though, I absolutely love that hotel, it's fab! Good luck with it all, hope you get things sorted.

    EDIT: There's also Clontarf Castle

You really should try and get some compensation for this....you would be entitled. I feel for you and your fiance. I'm getting married around the same time and I would be devastated if this happened to me.

How many people are you having for the reception? What size room do you need and how far from home will you travel for the reception?

I'm so sorry. That's frigging terrible.

Have you considered a Marquee and Caterers, you can try to get the money out of the venue afterwards.

    Do you have wedding insurance?

Hey I know you are trying to help but all these places are TOP dollar prices.
Carton House is like €120 a head !

OP, you might be better trying somewhere like the Carnegie Court in Swords or the Waterside in Donabate.

Carton is top dollar and is booked up two years in advance as well as they only allow one wedding per day! Have you had any luck yet OP? What a terrible awful situation to be in. Read that the Neptune owners are claiming that the place is structurally unsound, what rubbish!!

yea we got sorted but its jus not wat we wanted, but i suppose at 7wks away from wedding we cant be choosey,

i would jus like 2 say thanx 2 all who replyed.

as 4 the neptune (structualy unsound) jus a load of cobblers.

Glad to hear you got somewhere, it's all about the people not the place so I'm sure you'll have a fantastic day no matter where the venue is :)

Yeah the Neptune got turned down for planning permission recently that's why they're now claiming that it's structurally unsound. It's a wonder the place didn't mysteriously go on fire
