If i update will my Wii die?

    Just got the PAL modded Smash Bros Brawl in the post and popped it in and it said i needed an update on the disc.

    Then the message said "If you have an unauthorized technical modification, this may result in your console becoming unoperable."

    So obviously i didnt update.

    Ive got a Wiikey, i heard if you update without the disc in its fine, but i dont have the option to update unless the disc is in.

    Should i just leave it?

    The message you are talking about is standard on all machines, chipped or not

    Yes, but does it mean that if i update my console will be bricked?
