    Hi guys,

We have NTL or Chorus, don't know which (don't think it matters now that its all UPC).

The problem is that it its the old analogue service. Our landlord pays for this at the moment. I would like to get broadband from them too but would like to know if I need to upgrade the tv to digital pack to get the Internet?

I'd rather not as we have Sky and only use the NTL for the tv in the kitchen which brings me to the next point.

I have a tv in my room and would like to get the cable upto it if possible. However, I would not like to bring any cables up the stairs and across the house etc... Is there a way to wireless repeat the signal so I could receive it with a receiver upstairs?

You can't really use any repeater for analogue cable. The closest would be a video sender with a digital decoder.

You can now get broadband from NTL/UPC without also paying for the basic TV line-up. AFAIK, it costs around €6 extra though.

A possibility might be upgrading to digital -- it's going to happen some time, offers better quality and could allow you to relay the signal to your room.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

The only real reason I want to avoid the digital is because we have Sky Digital (in a rented house so no chance of changing this) so if it ends up being more expensive then we probably won't bother. Also thought it might be easier to send the analogue signal to another tv and be able to change channels on another tv rather than be restricted to whatever channel is selected on the tv, the cable is connected to like I imagine you would be with the digital option.

    Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd check that NTL BB is available in Maynooth if anyone knows. I'll go post this in BB if not but I just thought I'd chance my arm here since I already have the thread.

Will maynooth be part of the speed upgrades they have planned?

Again I know I'm slightly off topic for the forum but since it is about NTL, I thought I'd give it a shot.

eidt- oh and if someone knows, what is the penalty for exceeding cap with NTL as currently we have no cap so that might be a problem.
