hi, I'm building a website for a friend using a website builder. to really sharpen the look of the site i want to create a decent looking banner with company logo and bring in a picture (tosit on top of every page), etc....can anyone give any assistance as to where i start ? thanks. (website builder i use has plenty of templates, etc but not the look i want to achieve to give the site a nice sharp feel)

I assume you mean you want to design an image for the banner, download a free image editing software called the gimp, it should do that job.
