I'm looking for something preferably, open source and web based (but that I can host myself) that I can use to track web based projects/tasks, people, customers, resources, etc. I looked at the likes of dotProject and the simply googled offerings and they appear very outdated and shabby. I looked at the likes of dotProject and the simply googled offerings and they appear very outdated and shabby. Something that also generates Gannt charts would be good.

I'm looking for people that have such systems up and working for them, effectively. What did you use?

Did you look at Basecamp? (google it) Might be what you're looking for... never used it myself so I'm not sure.
