Bent pins, how to fix?

    Really need help with this, I cant edit the post to change the topic title so reposting it with a different title since anyone who does stuff like this may know the answer not just people who have taken apart a Wii before, i'm guessing all DVD drive plugs are probably the same standard Please see here: http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=55413048#post55413048

    right, is the broken pin on the cable or on the port where the cable attaches?

    best thing to try first is get a small pin/mini razor blade or something very very thin.

    try to straighten the pins using this method.

    as for the small piece of what ever it is sticking in there, is it possible that its a broken pin aswel?

    have you got a magnifying glass?
    if its not a pin, then maybe its a small piece of plastic off the plastic plug holding the pins.
    its possible you reefed a small bit of plastic using the screwdriver or trying to force the plug into the socket with the bent pins.

    try that first and get back with info. if the pins snap, DONT THROW THE WII OFF THE WALL!!!!!!

    that wont help.

    Do you have any spare PC parts lying around?

    Get a fan connector/front panel connector (single one would be better!), basically anything that has a plastic jacket to sit over a pin. http://www.data.sg/pics/front_panel.jpg

    Carefully place it over each pin and ben it back into place. Of course, this won;t work if the pins are very close together, which they seem to be from that picture.
