OK how did you chose your username? Is it a nickname, something you thought up in the spur of the moment? something to do with your real name? or just something silly to keep people guessing?

Mine has been a nickname for a long time. I used to keep spiders, snakes, lizards, and scorpions, as well as run a reptile rescue service and spider & snake club. On Corronation Street there was a guy called Spider, so someone gave me the smae name. It has just stuck. Now I use it as my DJ name and keep an air of mystery to my real identity! In fact some people still call me Spider and don't know my real name. :D

So come on Brothers & Brotherettes & Wimmins tell us your story! :pac:

    DJ Spider
(If I told you my real name I would have to kill you!)

First time I signed up for a forum, was casting around for a username and I happened to be reading the book 'Cranford' by Elizabeth Gaskell. There's a character in it called Miss Matty.

It's funny though, they did a TV adaptation of the book recently and I kept seeing miss matty in tv reviews and everywhere. It was a bit unsettling :o

    r3nu4l is 'leetspeak' for 'renewal'.

I used to have a different username at hackthissite years ago but at that time the site was very unstable thanks to power struggles between the mods and admins, so the site was hacked and the database deleted about 3-4 times in 2 months. Hence we had to reregister or 'renew' our accounts several times over that two months.

It's my most common username but I have about 7 different usernames across different fora globally ;)

EDIT: The leetspeak is used as irony as these days it's mostly script-kiddies that use it...although, gamers use it a lot too I suppose.

My was given to me a Eskimo mystic while I was doing heroin and walking the world in search of answers to the ultimate question, doing good deeds and just generally spreading the message of the coming war of the fish.
