I work with someone thats not much older than myself. She's about 34/35. Appartently she's been engaged for years and im just wondering does her fella want someone living of him and thats the reason for not getting married sooner. I was sickened when she told me she's not goin to work when she's married. It sounds rather old fashioned. But then she does act old. Even older than my mother.

So my question to u all is do u want ur other half living of u? Or would u live happily of ur other half?

lisajane, is this specifically a question about marriage or a general humanities question? If the latter I'll move it there. But it wouldn't hurt if you made your query a little clearer and txt spk isn't allowed on boards, so in future please take the time to make sure you spell out words like "your" rather than just typing ur.

In answer to your query it depends on the relationship and the situation.

Couples make their own decisions as couples.

Why on earth would it sicken you if she's going to give up work when she's married? That's their decision. No one's living "off" anyone else either. If they couldn't handle it financially it wouldn't be happening.

I don't think it's old fashioned or unacceptable or anti-feminist not to work.
