We are currently in the final stages of booking a venue for our Wedding.
The venue is a large old house and they do not have a alcohol license. They did however mention that there would be corkage for wine / cham if we brought it in.

Can you charge corkage if you dont have a drinks license?

    what do you think?

    My gut instinct says yes.

Why? well, they are not selling the stuff merely providing you with the staff to pour it and serve it (i presueme), The cooler to chill it, the glasses in which it will be served and the staff to wash said glasses.

So they are in fact charging for providing a service if ya see where im coming from. If they are not providing any of the above then ask them what the charge is based on.

    Best of luck.

I presume you are organising the alcohol yourself and the chillers, ice etc. and possibly staff to serve it? We are also using an old house in june for our wedding and as we are providing all these and paying for staff to serve people we are not paying corkage.
