The zen I have has just gone dead, no noise from it when you turn it on, the power light comes on when its in the cradle, reset dosent work, its just dead

I was thinking of replacing the hard drive, as I think it could be that or the power supply that has broke. The hard drive is a 2.5 laptop drive, im hoping

    anyone any other suggestions

Have a look at the anythingbutipod forums, http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=96
Some people over there have managed to replace their hard drives.
Also a quick search on youtube shows a few videos for disassembling a vision m.

    would anyone have any ideas??

i took the zen apart and tested the battery, it doesnt look to be giving out the correct voltage. the multimeter test gave a reading of 2.75V and the battery is 3.5V battery... so not good. I thnk the hard drive is ok as i got the Zen to start once for a few minutes and I cant get it to that state again.

I left the battery out of the casing and put the Zen back together again and into the dock, the blue light on the motherboard came on but still couldn get it to start.

so would i chance changing the cheap part( battery) or would it be the motherboard do ya think??
