Yeah, they went to one of my cousins schools, they were real trouble makers and the hair thing was just the last straw. They dyed it specifically to pi** off the principal because they thought he wouldn't dare ban them during the exams. They were given the option to sit the exams in another school.
WTF are you talking about at all? Jesus Christ.

Sean has never dyed his hair in his life, and I know him all his life.
They were real trouble makers? Really? And you know this... how?

Sean got his hair cut ON HIS SUMMER HOLIDAYS. Because he was working on a tractor, and the weather was very hot.
Have you ever sat in a tractor, surrounded by glass, from 8am til whatever time the sun stops shining at??
He got his hair cut. It was neat and it was tidy.
The exams didn't start until june. If you look into it, schools are actually taken over by the Dept of Education for exams so it had diddly squat to do with the principal. TBH, sean had more pressing things on his mind than testing the principal. They were not given the option of sitting the exams in another school until the parents created uproar.
The parents weren't even notified by the principal.

So. Until you know what your talking about, STFU.

On topic: I dunno, i dont agree with it. If she was just suspended for having purple in her hair its a bit silly alright.
from 1st year until 6th year I had my hair cosmic blue, black and pink, black and red, black and purple, plat blonde and purple... ect ect, and while the principal would get on to me about it, she never once suspended me over it.
She didnt like facial piercings either.

This girl was suspended from a school in Tallaght as she had a purple streak in her hair, what a joke. The girl is in 6th year and has been turned away to be taught only months before her Leaving Cert.

Is this not discrimination? How can colour in someone's hair affect how she should be taught.

I say all us school students should dye our hair purple and red and go to school in protest, I'm up for it.:D

Ahh good old TCS up to thier old tricks again. Believe me this isn't the first time they did something like this. When I was there they suspended a guy because of his "inapropriate" hair cut, he had a step, two razor on the back and sides long hair coming down over it, you couldn't even tell his back and sides were shaved, this was two days before his mock leaving cert exams. He told the Evening Herald about it and they let him back, tails tucked well between thier legs, the day of his mocks and never mentioned it to him again. Another girl in my class was suspended the month before her junior cert for getting a nose ring despite the fact she said she would remove it, "thats not the point, you broke the rules" was their explanation I recall. They also tried to make everyone were silly little ID tags for some reason once and make the pupils pay for them, I seem to remember them suspending several people in thier exam years for not wearing them aswell, "you can't afford to pay for them?, tough sh1t enjoy resitting your leaving cert if you fail because you were suspended in the vital revision month before it.".

If this happened any later than 1998 then he was probably suspended for crimes against fashion.

Rings and earrings were banned when I was in 6th year, that was halfway through the year. I think it was related to someones schoolbag handle or something else getting caught in another persons eyebrow ring or bar. >.<

Cop on a bit and calm down. The rest of you can quit provoking her and tone down your comments.

This happened to my sister: She's still living down in florida but she visits me up here sometimes. So one year on Patricks Day she went into school with green streaks in her hair and got suspended. Its ridiculous.

I believe most schools have the dress code outlined in some sort of book, given to the students.

If students want to break the dress code, by all means go ahead, but if they're punished for it, they only have themselves to blame.

There's dress codes in working environments too, if people break these and get sacked or another sort of discipline, is that discrimination? No, no it's not. They broke the rules and got punished for it.

If parents object to such codes or rules, then fine, homeschool the fckers.

It was done for her own safety, for fear of:

A friend of mine went in to school one Monday morning in a full SS officer's uniform and he got suspended. Ridiculous.
