I recently got engaged and it was a total surprise, but a good one!! :D

Anyway, im just wondering what general "ettiquette" is for an engagement present for him? I would like him to have something to keep as a reminder and was looking for good ideas? He's not a jewelery person, so no rings!! I'm already wondering if he'd wear the wedding ring to be honest!!! He hates jewelery that much!

I was thinking of maybe a watch and getting it engraved, but i would only have about 500 to spend... any ideas?? is 500 to scabby after he spent so much on the ring? which he did so ive heard through the grapevine, although i dont know the exact figure!! Should i take a loan out to get the rest? any ideas welcome!!

Don't worry too much about it, it's not even really a universal tradition. It's just a token more than anything else if you do want to go for something. Trust me, there will be more than enough expenses involved with the big day as it is, without getting a loan for this.

Anyway €500 would get a very nice watch - some clothes designers have some very nice ranges - I personally like the some of the Hilfiger watches, and the Armani ones are nice too.
