new cheap pedals in waltons - leem ?

hey, just saw these on the front of the waltons website, leem pedals - 30 quid a pop with od, dist, chorus and delay listed.

cant find any information from harmony central, thomann or ebay so no clue where they're from or what they're like.
has anyone happened to play with them yet ?
i'm cautiously optimistic - imho waltons doesnt tend to stock crap, but we'll see when i get down there saturday

Leem are a Korean company.

I've seen threads mentioning them pop up on the HC forums the odd time, a quick search confirmed my suspicions. Most people have had problems with noise and degradation of the signal. I doubt they're true bypass.

Meh. Boss pedals are not true bypass (although, I hate Boss pedals). There are lots of arguments in favour of buffered pedals over true bypass so I wouldn't write a pedal off purely on that basis. My TC Chorus isn't TB either. Harmony Central is useful, but I find myself tending to try and corroborate the reviews with those by people who have less of a buyer's bias.

Didn't Leem used to make guitar leads? They were decent, if they're the same crowd. I reckon pyure should try the pedals anyway.

I didn't look at the user reviews, I looked at the forum.

I know there's an argument for and against TB, I just thought I'd mention it when talking about these pedals. Some people are very specific when it comes to their signal chain. I find most BOSS pedals although not TB to be very good and not have too noticible tone sucking. I think Leem make a whole host of accessories, inc. mixers, pedals, amps and cables. Pretty low end stuff though.

If they're 30euro in waltons they're probably worth a tenner and if they're worth a tenner they're propbably not very good. Easy way to work it out

Exactly my point about true bypass re the Boss pedals. Lots of people think they're fine despite it. Not me... but that's cause I'm a nutjob anyway.

I got the Leem LOD-302 Overdrive Pedal & Leem LDY-303 Delay Peda, I am fairly happy considering the price i paid i make a video on youtube showing them... here:

As for buffering/true bypass, it depends on the company, doesn't it? A real, honest-to-God mechanical true bypass will be the same on every pedal, but buffers can vary widely. So a TB pedal is a "safer" bet. There's that guy, I forget his name, who takes famous (and/or rich) people's pedal boards and rehouses them all into one big box and puts his patented super amazo-buffer in all of them, he has a huge spiel on his website giving out about true bypass, but that's 'cause he makes particularly good buffers. It's probably fair to say a cheap pedal won't have much of a buffer in it.

(I remembered his name! Pete Cornish! Here's that rant. Lou Reed's gear, awful looking! All the charm of a pedal board is gone!)

If you're handy with a soldering iron, it's fairly easy to true bypass a pedal yourself. Those Leem pedals look like they're ideal for it, since they're in that Hammond-style enclosure with that kinda switch.

In my experience there is no point in buying cheap pedals, they will always be a disappointment.

You may as well just get good ones gradually instead because you will end up having to get them anyway an no one will buy the cheap ones off you.

I had a Leem mic once. Just your run of the mill dynamic mic. It was cheap but did the job, just about.

The Behringer pedals are all clones, and some of them are apparently quite good ones. I'm GASing for a Vintage Delay - Boss DM-3 clone. Or a Vintage Time Machine :eek:
