Working in Disability at Third Level

    Does anyone know if there's any specific qualifications needed to work in the area of disability at third level or even generally in the disability sector? I know that's a big umbrella term though. At third level there are academic supports, tutors, occupational therapists etc etc but is there something specifically required to be a disability or access officer?

    I see TCD has a PG Dip, seems to be possibly something geared towards those already in the field http://www.tcd.ie/disability/projects/postgrad/index.php

    It's not specific to the education sector, but you'll find some useful information on the role of Access Officer in the public sector (as defined in the Disability Act 2005) in the NDA Access Officer conference proceedings.

    possibly experience in the sector/ assistive technology/ education would be an advantage?
