Who installed it? Did they set a password? You could in theory just block Symantec from starting up using msconfig and then deleteing the directories manually but I'd try getting the password first

    Hi,

In many of the older versions of symanyec av corporate, a password reset tool is available for use. Can't remember offhand if 8.x uses this tool.

You can try searching all symantec folders (ie. prog files\symantec and prog files\common files etc.) for "iforgot.exe"

This would allow you to reset the symantec admin pw, and therefore continue with your uninstall.

Alternatively you could look for and download the most recent "Norton Removal Tool", think it's called "nonav.exe", should force-remove any norton product installed on your machine.

    Thanks Jim,

That worked great. I'm back on track now.
