I'm looking to take small clips off my compact snap camera & edit them together to show on the TV & YouTube. I would use basic transitions & effects, but nothing mad.

iMovie would be ideal, but is there any good software for the PC. Preferably free, but would be will to spend a little. Is Premier Elements worth while?

I'd nearly resurrect my blueberry iMac just for iMovie...

"...for the PC" - I assume you mean Windows. Windows usually comes with Windows Movie Maker - a basic package but would allow for basic editing, transitions & effects.

I use it already, but the quality is poo & its very limited + it can't keep any quality - outputs poor resolution...

Windows movie maker is pretty awful alright, and quite prone to crashing-and-not-saving-the-last-f**king-thing-you-were-working-on syndrome as I recall.

Theres some open source editing software which might be up your street

The wiki says its not really a N.L.E but it seems to have a basic package of transitions and colour grades.
