Decent builders providers and some very good arts shops will do small sheets of lexan in 3/16th inch thickness. There's coated and non coated types. If you can get the coated I recommend it as it has a higher abrasion resititance. More expensive two though. It also responds fairly well to heat treatment if you want to shape it.

On a related note, I'm looking for thin sheets of aluminium, anyone know where to find these?

How thin, what dimensions and what type? We often have aircraft grade some lying around scrap stores but that might be a bit difficult to work with for you.

anything less than around 2mm should do. I'm looking for it to build a drum mag.

    A sheet 550mm X 180mm should do me

I'll have a look in scrap stores tomorrow, see what I can find. I've often pulled 2x2ft sheets out of there for my own use. I'll try to get the more malleable stuff so it's easier for you to work with. Unless you have a bending press 2024T3 is gonna be a pain for you to work.

If there's anything there I'll let you know. If not, Heiton Buckleys are your best bet.

I feel bad for that poor Gard
    He was clearly bein pranked
Losing your job over something like that is a bit mad
but posting it on youtube possibly isn't the best choice either

crazy if its plastic sheets there is a (or at least was) a great model shop near o connel street bridge. i think its called marks models. i dont know the name of the street but if you are standing on o connel street facing trinity college and look left, there is a small side street there, it is 2 minutes walk from the bridge.

its downstairs, looks tacky but he has loads of model supplies and sells plastic modelling sheets in a variety of thicknesses. the company that makes this styrene stuff is evergreen. its flexible and easy to use and cheap so you can play around a bit. they might even do colours but dont hold me to that

    hope that helps....

Polycarbinate's not really flexable Liam, now is it.... Mr O'Niel wouldn't be happy to see that!

Point a decent heat gun at it and you'd be suprised how malleable it is.
