Hi all, been lurking here a while, thought it was about time to post. Passed the role plays and medical there so fingers crossed. Does anyone know roughly when the feedback will be out? Also, does anyone know anybody who has failed the role plays? I know a few people doing it and they have all passed.

just looked over that document you were talking about mickey, definitely looks right what you`re saying though this is the first i heard of it,done medical 17th dec still no word (not really expecting until next week with the holidays)fingers crossed:)

    Interesting reading Mickey.

It makes a lot of sense in my opinion I’m just hoping it’s been implemented this time.
My partner had her medical on the 17th also, the Doctor concluded with “We’ll be in contact in the new year” Hopefully this end of it eh!

Mine with on the 10th but I had additional medical information to supply, I hope that doesn’t leave me too far behind on the results.

    Good luck all.

    Martin.

Mic I think they said March for feedback but if you've already passed your medical maybe you'll be started by then! Good luck!

Could you let us know when you did your medical and when you received word you passed?

    Martin

Interesting document you have found there, it would only make sense to do medicals as people are being considered for a placement, not just for the merit pool, in other words after the merit pool has been populated.
Though it is just a consultation paper and not difinitive ammendments to legislation;)

Not too sure if it has been implemented, but i'm sure there has been some streamlining this time as the process is definately different this time...

i.e how could Jim have been offered a place using the old sytem if the merit pool (I believe merit pool was only confirmed early December 2007)under that system was only decided after all vetting and medicals had taken place ...unless perhaps all the potential recruits had already been vetted/medical, passed/failed (and those next in line offered the places) by early December 2007.

Perhaps we are all part of the "1800" or Jim was indeed offered a position to top up campaign 12....As far as I was aware each campaign is independent, however this would need to be confirmed. Anyone know??

    Regards.

    Mickey 2186.

BTW anyone received a reply from Conensia regarding the 4 week letter?

To be honest I think they have implemented it this time.

Didn’t someone say the PSNI wanted to see the A/C results straight away so this delayed the initial medical/vetting? Where they establishing the merit pool at this point?
Was it Alan that said PSNI recruitment confirmed the process would be different and you only got a medical date after you passed vetting? Out of all of us here has anyone received vetting forms after the medical? I certainly didn’t. In fact my partner and I did everything together including the vetting forms, however she received the medical date a week after me. Previous to this we were a little worried about some of her extended family affecting her vetting. Did this slow her vetting, proving the last point?
The fact that Conensia sent out the 4 week letter after many of us where already at the vetting/medical stage. Was this an indication that the merit pool had already been put together and the time it took for Conensia to get the results back delay the generic letter to everyone?
Jim has been offered a place and starts training this month, how could this happen if many other’s hadn’t even been vetted or had their medical.

Obviously this is all guess work but as Mickey says I’m sure they have adopted at least some of the streamlining.

    Good luck all.

    Martin.

i recieved vetting forms 12/11,then 2 days later letter from consensia confirming i was through to next stage then 29/11 another one 2 say they would be in touch in 4 weeks(nothing yet)then my medical date arrived around the 4th dec which i attended on 17thdec , on the medical letter it says it`s the final stage other than vetting which is being carried out by psni,so going on that i would assume everyone does medical while checks are still ongoing although it is strange why martin and partner dates are the same until vetting/medical:confused:

Personal opinion......it may well be that those higher up the merit pool are offered vetting and medical first, tho medical and vetting imo run along side each other. Tho just an opinion, an opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one :D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭carlty888

I rang Consensia on the 4th January to ask if they could give me any information with regards to the merit pool. The guy said that no information regarding the merit pool would be available at that time, however I should take comfort in knowing that I had had both my medical and vetting completed.

I'm not quite sure what to make of his last comment. He wouldn't say any more on it.

In light of micky2186's document it would lead me to believe that the changes may well have been implemented for campaign 13. However that may just be wishful thinking on my part.

Uncleneilly - I had my medical on the 17th too. You weren't by any chance in around 3pm? Green t-shirt?

no carlty,i was in at 09.00 didn`t see anyone else

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭Ethan321

Interesting comment he made there Carlty, tho did you tell him that you had done vetting and medical before he made the comment? Hard to say really what to make of that.
Though When you look at it, is it possible to do around 800 or 1,000 medicals and vetting before say even the end of the month here? Or is it just the top end of the pool being done first? Questions that will remain unanswered i think for a while yet.
Only annoying thing i have found is that there doesnt seem to be any word on wether or not ive passed medical. Anyone else got word one way or another?:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭uncleneilly

no,hoping 4 some word this week, doctor said it normally takes two weeks but would be longer because of holidays

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭Ethan321

Yeah said normally 2 weeks, though i done mine mid november! Though did have to post up some extra info to them a few days after it.
Is no news good news ? lol

Anyone know how many medicals they do per day??

Do they have more than one location or are they all carried out at Seapark?

    Martin

I did my medical on Monday the 3rd of December and got word the following thursday the 13th, fit as a fiddle me. I believe the feed back is posted out before the end of January to the best of my knowledge.

Well the plot thickens, intresting comments.

I'm trying not to think about it but I'm off the opinion any of us that pass the medical/vetting will be offered training.

We're also hoping to hear about the medical this coming week however I'm in the same boat as Ethan with the additonal Information. How long is it since you provided it? I had 10 days for my Doctor to reply on my BP. He wrote all was well so hopefully that'll be enough.
I think you mentioned it's been quite some time but I wish you well, I'm hoping they don't put all of us 2nd chance saloon people aside and look at them towards the end!

I'm predicting there will be a lot of smiles and sad faces soon, hopefully more smiles!

    Martin.

Ethan321 - I had said about having gone through the medical / vetting before he told me to take comfort in that I done them already. As I said, it may well be no more than wishful thinking and me hearing what I want to hear.

    Uncleneilly - Sorry. My bad.

Guy in green t-shirt - Thanks for letting me knowing about this thread.

    MartinC2006 - Here's to those smiles.

I think that the new system may indeed be in progress.

Have a look at the link below to the UK Statute Law database, which seems to show an implementation date March 2007.

That is probably the reason why there was only one recruitment campaign in 2007.

    http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/legResults.aspx?LegType=Order+in+Council+(N.I.)+(Revised)&searchEnacted=0&extentMatchOnly=0&confersPower=0&blanketAmendment=0&NavFrom=0&activeTextDocId=3318549&PageNumber=1&SortAlpha=0

    Again I could be wrong!!!

    Regards.

Don't worry about that. If you've passed the role plays and passed them well then you have nothing to worry about. Also being a Catholic doesn't hurt.

    hiya guys

i got my vetting forms through on the 18 dec. no news of medical as yet. i did the assessment centre in early november. is anyone else in the same boat as me??? starting to get the feeling ive not passed as most of you have already done medicals...........

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 107 ✭✭mickey2186

    Smudge,

Other than the 4 week letter and your vetting forms, did you get anything else from Consensia i.e a letter to tell you that you had passed and that Occupational Health would be in touch soon with a medical date and forms?

    Mickey2186

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 199 ✭✭MartinC2006

    Smudge,

From my own experience and reading this thread the medical forms seem to arrive 2-3 weeks after the vetting forms. I take it you sent off the vetting forms fairly quickly? If so factor in 2-3 weeks from when you sent them and take into account the Christmas break. Theres plenty of time yet!

Also Mickey I totally agree, I was also thinking that may have been the reason for delay in this campaign.

    Martin.

I don't know if this helps any, but it's an explanatory memorandum of the document Mickey had given us a link to. Just go to Article 8: Recruitment of police trainees.

I guess this bodes quite well for those who have been put through for the vetting / medical. Just one final hurdle - the 50:50.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 107 ✭✭mickey2186

Unless of course this time they are only sending out vetting forms to the top 220 RC canditates in the pool and the other 220 to the non RC's.

If either part is failed they will then move on to the next person down the list.

Apparently in campaign 11 there were only slightly over 500 people in the merit pool, so it may not be as bad as you think.

    Regards.
