    Greetings,
i'm behind a router and have zone alarm installed.

Now I assume that'll do (famous last words, part 9803) and that I can leave the windows firewall switched off, what with possible conflicts between it and zone alarm... or have I misunderstood summin here ?

Would appreciate some input to put the paranoia fairy at rest

    ta

    That'll do.
Just make sure you have Zone Alarm turned on, Windows Firewall turned off, and that you have some anti-virus and anti-spyware protection.
Firewalls will conflict if you have two running at same time, as will real time AV protection. Only use one Anti-Virus program.

    What he said :)

Running two firewalls or two anti-viruses leads to so many problems. I was fixing up somebody's PC from malware, however he could not connect to the internet from the PC anymore. Turned out to be due to him running Windows firewall and ZoneAlarm.
