Hi - not sure if this is a security question, but I'm wondering if it is possible to retrieve mails that were deleted from the trash in gmail? Thanks.

Nope,

They are gone gone gone.

Get into the habit of archiving instead of deleting.
You have plenty of storage on gmail, you will never run out.
