Hi guys, just a quick one.

I plan on popping a question soon enough and want to get a ring (all a surprise) but don't want to go out and pick one out that she doesn't like and/or doesn't fit. Just wondering what the story is with changing rings post purchase? I mean, could I pick out a ring, pay for it, propose with it and (all going well of course) then come back in and get it in a different size (or even style?). Another idea would be to buy a simple token ring and buy the real one together I suppose. I'm just scared I'll pick one out that she wont like and then she's stuck with it (as well as me!!). Any help appreciated.

Fair play to that guy with the sticky on Wedding rings btw. Very very useful!

    Thanks!
    Gumby.

I was in exactly the same position as you. It depends on the shop, but I was told that once I don't get it sized and bring it back within a week, we could pick out another one with no problems at all. Luckily, she liked the ring, so it didn't come up.

Cheers Eoin that's good to know. I'll ask in the shop so. I didn't want to go in and ask something like that if it was ridiculous. I don't mind embarassing myself in front of millions on t'internet but one on one I'd be mortified!

Just another thing - What's the norm to spend? I know there is no 'norm' exactly but for a nicer than average ring what sort of price am I looking at?

    Thanks again,
    Gumby.

Don't be the least bit embarrassed about asking them these type of questions. I'm certain they get asked that type of question all the time. For what it's worth, we went to Appleby's off Grafton Street, and they were really helpful. A few places have a room or private section they bring you, so you're not being crowded by other shoppers. I was easily over an hour there myself trying to decide, so it's nice to have that space. Weirs on Grafton Street were really helpful too.

I really can't answer that - there is such a wide range of prices. You may get a better idea from some of the other threads here.
