Improving Ping

    I'm playing COD(the 1st one) and my usually good ping has gone atrocious- usually between 250-500,


    Is there any ways I can improve it?

    I'm unable to use a wired connection.

    How do you connect to the internet? Who is your ISP? Is you PC clean or is it riddled with trojans?

    Did you move house, and the obvious,try stop downloading porn.
    Check how many stops you make before you get to a server, i had a problem where my ping was almost 200 higher.In that case there was a problem with one of the servers along the way, maybe it's a problem along the way to a server, if this is the case it will sort itself out.

    My PC is pretty damn clean. I'm not really one for porn since I went outta my teens, it runs pretty well but I have no idea what caused the ping to increase over a c ouple of days.

    I'm using an Eircom Netopia wireless router with a Netgear adaptor.#



    What do you mean by stops to a server?

    Tracert to the IP of the server you're trying and posts the results.

    try cl_maxpackets 100

    might help reduce your ping.
