Ratatouille - Brad Bird is a genius no doubt

I loved this, a Brad Bird movie can't be bad can it? I think one of the reviews on rotton tomatoes got it right though when it said that the story has a problem with pacing and it was a little choppy, particulary in the middle section. That aside the script is beautifully carfted and there are endless layers to the text. It never made me laugh out loud but it just constantly made grin with pleasure...there are parts that I imagine a lot of people might miss particulary on first sitting, there a lot of culinary in- jokes and asides that woud be easy to miss.. as someone else said earlier in this thread the likes of Shrek with it's pop clture tripe will soon be quite dated whereas Pixar and Brad Bird are making movies that are sure to stand the test of time..Although not quite up there with his magnificent 'The Iron Giant' we've got to remember that this is an original story and that alone is it's greatest assest. We get so much regurgitated animation from disney and even dreamworks but Pixar seems intent on bringing incredibly orginals idea alive. It is how these movies are crafted with great love and artistic merit and intent, these are qualities that lift them above the drab and regular features from other studios.
