From the front page of todays Leinster Leader....

A Newbridge man has won 60,000 in a major poker competition in London. Pat Scanlon won a ticket to the event in Carlow a few weeks ago and jetted his way London to the major competition.

Pat played against many of the worlds best players in the race for the jackpot of 1m stg. His luck ran out on Saturday but not before he had made it into 14th place out of the 362 runners to net a cool 57,000.

He was moved to the feature table on day two and played against some of the best in the world but Pat never felt uncomfortable or out of his league. He even earned him self the nickname of the "all in guy" as he kept putting everything in the middle going for the big one. Pat say that he bluffed the big guys over and over and was all in many times with less then premium cards..

Pat took out one of Americas top professionals before he lost to the eventual winner Annette (18) from Finland. It transpired that she was the one bluffing him when she called his all in..

Edited transcript from Leinster Leader today 19th sept

Some of you would know pat as he plays the cash games in the SE on occassion and always livens up the game.... a character

TBH the CPT is a bit of a parallel universe. Bluff calling and winning would be the norm

I was watching on a live stream with about 40 players left and 36 for money.

He was definitely dominating his table for a while.

I knew he was Irish when he got up from the TV table during play to 'Water the horse'.

Has anyone seen this Parallel Universes' new publication masquerading as an Irish poker mag?

It's about 3 or 4 issues in so far and covers all the important tournaments around the country, i.e. the CPT Tournaments. Nothing terrible but as ever anyone reading it will think the CPT is the only place it's at.

Yeah i reckon the CPT would have bluff calling alright. Gotta use that one in a bad beat story sometime. :D
