we should all just get together and have a newbies to maynooth party!!:D

Is anyone here getting the slevin bus out to maynooth?Cos im thinking of either regiestering for it or getting the luas out to connolly and the train to kildare.

Is that the Dundrum-Tallaght-Clondalkin-Maynooth one?? That Tom drives!?
Have got that for the past two years, don't plan on doing so this year as im hopefully moving out.
You're probably better off getting it than the luas & train option, as that takes an absolute eternity and Slevins drops you right into the college.

yeah, but you've less freedom with those buses.

i.e. if it leaves at 6pm and your lectures stop at 1pm, you're stuck waiting around.

If you want to hang on in the evening then, even just an hour more, you're fecked.

But it's more convenient for you if you don't care about that stuff.

omgz I'm nervous that I'm gonna look like a complete outcast, I know people doing Arts but for orientation I'm screwed (doin biomed).

Oh well, I'm sure you wouldn't judge someone eating alone...

Dont worry during orientation week you will meet loads of new people, and never speak to them after OW :D

Last year I knew 4 girls from my year in school and 1 other lad who was a friend of a friend and didnt really know them that well and they where doing Arts and I was doing Science.

Anyway met loads of new people one group which had 3 hot girls, 2 semi-hot & 1 lad who was doing my course, out of that group now only 2 girls are still in Maynooth all the others have dropped out.

For me its great there are 3/1 r is it 3/2 girls for every lad in Maynooth but sadly that not all of them are going to win a beauty contest. :(

But with odds like that SURELY its possible to find SOME decent looking women?:(

no. nope. no way. it's a rule that no good looking girls (or people at all) go to maynooth. they're just not allowed in. It wouldn't be fair on the huge minger population to throw in a few "hotties". I myself am hideously deformed, which is why I chose to go to manyooth, where i'll just be average looking and some average looking boy might just settle for me...

    that's a lie. i'm actually a big ride.

Woah I totally forgot about Boards.ie, am I a bad person now?

Do any upperclassmen have any advice on joining societies/clubs? More specifically clubs..is it sound to take up something completely new, even if you'll look like a complete knob until you get the hang of it? Or should I just stick to the sports I've done in the past

omg Brad Pitt is soooooooo not ugly, I tells ya I'd be happy to take a look a like off your hands Rozabeez!

I myself, am a big ride, who doesn't associate with mingers, so don't even bother coming up to me as I eat alone during orientation unless you're good looking. Not just good looking, ridiculously good looking.

Yes you are a terrible, terrible person. Now go punish yourself for your crimes!!!!

Anyways as for the clubs, i'd say they sort of HAVE to cater for beginners.I mean I can't imagine too many students going into first year will ever have done stuff like fencing or kayaking or something similar.

Gwan the kayaking, I've done that before, very very fun but I'm a bit of a klutz.
