Things to do on a plane

Ok,
I've got a 12-hour flight coming up at the end of the week and although as I always intend to sleep on these journeys, it rarely happens!!

Anyone got any ideas on how to pass these hours and be inventive!!

PSP, DS, MP3 player or portable DVD player normally eat through the hours if you can get your hands on them.

Find someone to flirt with or set up a snake watch with some other passengers just incase!

Failing those portable DVD players are cheap enough and loads of munchies.

I've resisted watching that snakes on a plane movie so snake watch is completley out of the question!

A good book passes time like nothing else I find.

Regardless of time of flight I always throw a couple of books into my carry on. Best thing is they don't run on batteries so your not trying to watch that either.

Go to your gp tell them your a bit freaked about the long plane journey and ask for two vanax/valium one for each way.

It's just enough to take the edge off things you can still read or watch a movie but nothing really bothers you that much. Last time I flew to south america there was a little TV in the headrest on front of me showing movies, watched movies most of the way over and back. Before you fork out on a portable DVD find out if they will be showing movies on the plane

Perferectly fine, annoucements made to keep em' switched off during landing and take off though.

who are ya flying with to where? i went to america in the economy section and they have personal movie players in each seat with a full compliment of films from shrek the third to alpha dog.

PSP/DS, books sleeping pills.. I usually take one and don't sleep for the whole flight (I had a 12 hour last month) Sleep for a few hours, then read, watch a movie, play your PSP.. It'll pass! G'luck:D

I always take two or three books that are not too dull (no political biographies, thanks) - Iain Rankin thrillers sort of things - and magazines.

For long journeys like that it's sometimes worth taking a blow up pillow so if you do actually feel sleepy you might stay asleep for a while.

Otherwise, I know it's dull but not drinking on a journey like that will make you feel a whole lot better for the next few days (not that I am good at not drinking on a plane). And drink lots of water as there's nothing like a plane's recycled air to dehdrate you. You need to take your own water as the airline will only give you tiny glasses as carting lots of water costs them a fortune in fuel!

i did two 12 hour flights on my way to new zealand and i found that the on flight entertainment usually passes the time as they've plenty of ilms and programmes to watch!!!failing that u shud get your hands on a PSP or Nintendo DS.

Get a good spy novel - Ian Fleming or similar. You'll be glued to it!
