Having problems hiding samba folders from Windows

I have a folder with 10 files in it and I want to hide 5. If I go right click properties and change it to hidden it does not work. Is there another way to hide them from Windows without logging into the linux server to do it that way.

You could consider the "map hidden" option in smb.conf, which may do what you need. Alternatively, if it's a once-off (or a regular pattern of files that you want kept invisible), the "veto files" option will deny to the Windows clients that it ever existed.
