Problem Installing Solaris10 on VMPlayer

    A couple of weeks a go I ordered a free Solaris 10 DVD. I've been playing with VMplayer and though I installing it as VM. Problem is that when I start up the VM player I get no bootable device. I know it boots as I test it.

    VMPlayer is for pre-made images you find online or on some Linux distribitions' websites.

    What you need is VMWare Server. It's also free. You create a profile for the OS, such as how much RAM to use, what size hard drive to use [this just creates a file; nothing technical for you to do], whether to allowing Internet access, etc.

    you can use VMWare player fine.

    go to www.easyvmx.com

    There you can create a blank image of a server. Just start that up and stick in your CD ROM and you can install fine.

    That's what I was referring to in the first line of my post. Just assumed the OP would like to start from scratch with a custom setup. Those images certainly do save time and simplify the whole thing.

    I figured it out I had it set to auto detect the cd-rom, once I got rid of that it worked perfect, i now have Sloaris10 and Ubuntu 7.04 up an running.

    Doesn't seem to work though with Virtual Box under Feisty :/
