Testing a power supply

    I have an old computer. Its a custom built ATX. Its dead as a doornail and i suspect the power supply because it has a scorched smell. At the same time i would like to test it.

    Any suggestions on the best way to do so?

    paperclip trick outside of the case with some fans attached to see if its working. google is your friend :D
