    Hi all,
Am starting the initial planning for my wedding in late 2008/ early 2009 (date is flexible!) We are living in New Zealand but all our family is in Ireland we are hoping to come home to have it. We both lived for years in Galway where we were both working in bars. Because of this we have plenty of friends willing to help with catering/drinks/entertainment. The main issue is a venue. All of my immediate family are spread around the globe so my dream is to hire a beautiful castle/house for a few days over christmas where 10-15 of my closest family could spend christmas together for the first time in years, this reunion would culminate in our wedding and a party of about 80-100. My fiances family are all based in Tuam so anywhere in the Galway/mayo area would be ideal.
As I said we would prefer somewhere where we could cater for ourselves, preferably unstaffed so we could have privacy over christmas. Here is the crutch, our budget for a venue cannot exceed 5000 euros. I know this is a pittance in Ireland now but we are earning NZ dollars!! It is for this reason I'm willing to be flexible on dates and even willing to cut down my week long family christmas reunion to a three day midweek mid janurary reunion so long as the venue is perfect.

    Any Ideas?

    We've rented this place (for a 30th):
    http://www.lisdonagh.com/
The place was lovely (you can rent it on a self catering basis during the winter), and it had a proper catering kitchen. I think we had about 20 staying in the house that weekend.
A friend went to a wedding there too - there are a good few reception rooms, so you could let people mingle around.
There are also cottages in the grounds for your other guests.
If you need more info about it, you can PM me if you want!
