Unoverclockable machine

    I have a bog standard HP Pavilion computer..

    I was messing around with it to see if I could overclock it, but there is noway to do it in the bios and I can't seem to find any bios upgrades..
    The motherboard seems to be an ASUS P5 BW
    It has a e6400 2.13 processor and noname 667 mhz ram..
    I tried a good few windows programs for overclocking but they all give me errors..

    Any ideas? The manufacturers obviously dont want people fiddling with this thing, but is it possible or just a dead end?

    More then likely HP have tampered with the board so that it cant be overclocked.

    Most big OEMs set their BIOSes up to not allow any kind of overclocking because it costs them money in support when people who don't know what they're doing screw it up.

    Sometimes you can get aftermarket BIOS's. Failing that, you can physically modifiy the board to change clock. YMMV with this though. In either case you may not have a RAM divider or PCI lock.
