Route66 on older nav system with WinCE

I have a Medion MD 96800/TNA 250T bought from Aldi a few years back.

Anyway, it runs Windows CE 4.2 and I recently hacked it to access WinCE directly. Medion Navigator isn't upgradeable with new maps so I need to purchase new software to go on the unit. Many folks have put TomTom on it, but their maps are not good enough for Ireland.

So, for cheap enough, I can get an SD card with just software from Route66. They say it won't work, purely because they haven't tested it, but I think it might. They say it must only work on their Chicago unit. Anyone with experience?

Anyone try install other nav software's like CoPilot Live on their older Nav units running WinCE?

    Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, this worked. I now have Route 66 running on my old Aldi medion unit.

I just need to field test it now.

works same as on the airis.

i posted a post on here re this before.
ive had it running for over a year no prob. was a little bit tricky to set up at the time if i remember correctly but i did get it in the end.

only thing is you have to load it via the start menu every time

do a google and you will find a step by step. I can do it on here as its a breach of copyright.

How did you do it, as it requires a min of Win Mobile 2003 SE.

I would be very interested to find out as I have a mate with a LG unit that has CE as the OS.

I am also looking at putting some form of GPS on my Nokia 770 although it is Linux based

    Hi there,

have you ever had the battery run out and all the files try to install again? But since I now have route 66 on the SD card, the files won't install and I can't get the windows CE screen up again. Any tips for fixing this and then avoiding the issue?

I just loaded it. Most of what Route66 suggests is a guideline.

But how to hack to see WinCE, google your model number and tomtom. Most of the threads are about how to load tomtom on these medion units.
